Extra-Curricular

Argoed High school puts on a large scale production biannually, with around 80- 100 pupils getting involved acting, costume and make- up, playing instruments, doing the set and helping back stage. We pride ourselves on producing excellent, high standard shows which are always a sell out over 4 nights! Some of the latest productions have been:

  • We Will Rock You 2020
  • Best of Broadway 2019
  • Director Who 2018
  • Annie 2016
  • Scrooge 2014
  • Back to the 80s 2012
  • Blood Brothers 2010

We also intermittently put on smaller scale shows and events over the years and perform in the consortium concert, Christmas Concerts, Summer Prom and Flintshire’s schools in performance.

When school productions are not in progress we have a Drama Club where pupils can build their confidence and skills during a lunch time club.

The Drama department also runs many trips to the theatre throughout the year including plays, musicals and pantomimes for all years. We also run an annual London trip with the English department to the West End and have even been to Broadway in New York!

The department offers a plethora of events that all pupils in the Argoed can get involved in!
