@ArgoedHS

An incredibly huge thank you to Laura Heywood @scentedgarden for this humongous donation of books to the school library. Lots of very popular authors and titles that will soon be reserved I’m sure. We are extremely grateful for your very generous continued support❤️📚⭐️@ArgoedHS

Free School Meals

Did you know – just registering your child for Free School Meals
means that the school gets extra money?

The percentage of our pupils who are eligible for a free school meal has become more of an important statistic over the past two years. For every child registered at Argoed High School, the school receives approximately £1050 (2015). This will be used to support your child with their learning. Therefore it is essential that those pupils who are entitled to a free school meal are registered at school.

To ensure your child and others do not miss out, please download and complete the registration slip.

How does it work?

  1. First, check if you qualify – it is not just if you are unemployed, so please look at the list below.
  2. Registering is quick and easy – if you think you qualify, contact Mrs Davies in the school office, who will help you register.
  3. If you want your child to have a free, healthy meal at lunchtime that is great – your child will get a free meal and the school receives approximately £1050 to support learning.
  4. If you do not want your child to have the school meals they can continue as normal – as long as you qualify and are registered, the school still receives the funding.

Will people know my child is on free school meals?

This information is treated as confidential, money is added to your child’s lunch account automatically.

Claiming free school meals will not affect any other benefits you are claiming.
