Parent Bulletin No.9

Dear Parent/Carer

I hope you and your family are well and looking forward to a pleasant weekend. If you are attending any bonfire displays please have fun but stay safe. The latest information from school is as follows:

Updated Guidance on Self-Isolation

During the half term break, Welsh Government updated the guidance on when we must self-isolate. I have attached a link below to the latest information but in summary: If someone in your household has symptoms or has tested positive you must self-isolate and take a PCR test. If your test is negative then you can stop isolating. Please remember that if your child has any symptoms they must isolate immediately and book a PCR test. Do not use a LFD test.

Y11 Exams

You may have seen some of the media coverage regarding GCSEs this summer and speculation as to whether they will happen. The stance at present is that exams will take place this summer, but with adapted specifications to take into account the disruption caused by the pandemic. As a school, we will also have a contingency plan in case they do not take place and we have to award Centre Determined Grades. I will be inviting all year 11 parents to a virtual information evening in the coming weeks to give further information on this and also how we, as a school, plan to prepare and support the pupils for exams.

Remembrance Service

To mark Armistice Day we will be holding virtual services in school next week. If any student is a member of the Cadet Forces then they are welcome to wear their uniform on Thursday 11 November.

Student Health and Wellbeing Survey

Attached to my newsletter is a letter from the School Health Research Network.  I hope that you will be happy for your child to take part. If you have any concerns, wish to see the survey questions or withdraw your child from the survey or from data linkage research, please notify school reception as soon as possible.

Extra-curricular Programme

Attached is the updated PE timetable for this half term. There are also other clubs and activities running including rehearsals for the school production, Art and Coding. Please encourage your child to join in where they can.

I hope you all have a pleasant weekend.

Yours faithfully

Mr P Smith
