Parent Bulletin No.32

Dear Parent/Carer

I hope you and your families are well.  We have had a focus on wellbeing this week, particularly our Key Stage 4 students who are involved in exams.  Laura Heywood from Scented Garden Retreat came into school to share techniques for relaxation and mindfulness.  She will be back in school on Monday to run Calm Club at lunchtime for any students who wish to learn more about how to cope with stress and techniques to relax.

New Build Update

I had a request from a parent this week to share some information on our new build. Due to the local elections there has been a pause in the proceedings but we are expected to get final approval for our new school in the next few weeks.  All being well we can then expect construction to start in the summer holidays.  The new school will open in September 2024.  These are very exciting times for all of us at Argoed and I intend to share more information with our students and the community soon.  For now I have added some images of how the school might look below.

Year 11 Study Leave

School closes for half term this Friday, 27th May and this is the last compulsory day of school for Year 11.  On Friday there will be revision sessions for Maths, English and Science following the Chemistry exam in the morning, so it is important that students remain focused until 3:10pm.  After half term, staff will invite students in for additional revision where appropriate and we would ask you to encourage them to complete their own independent study at home.

Feedback from Parents

I will be sending out some surveys shortly inviting you to give us your views on School.  Please try and find time to return them as I will be using the information you provide to shape our provision at school.  I will also be seeking the views of your children to ensure we are always striving for improvement at Argoed.

Update from Monkhouse Forrester regarding uniform

I have been asked to share the following message from our uniform suppliers for your information:
