I hope you and your families are well. I will keep this week’s newsletter brief.
Mock Exams
From Monday next week, Year 11 will be sitting mock exams. This is a valuable opportunity for students to practise completing assessments under exam conditions and I hope they have revised and prepared for them. They also provide staff with useful information on students’ understanding, who might need further support and which topics may need further work. They also provide important evidence for predicted GCSE grades.
Year 10 will also be taking a mock exam in English Literature in preparation for their first exam in January.
New Build Update
The work at the front of site is well underway.
Access is currently being created to allow for separate accesses; one to the site entrance for the construction vehicles and one for school traffic flow. You will have seen the mud pile growing in size. Next week when the areas are tarmacked the lorries will be coming in to remove it all. We are expecting a constant convoy of lorries, 40 per day for two weeks to remove all of the soil!
Thank you to all of you for parking at the rear of school to reduce the congestion at the front gate. I am still receiving complaints from residents so where possible please encourage your child to walk or cycle to school.
Christmas Dinner and Jumper Day
Advance notice: It is the Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day on the 8th December. We will also be serving Christmas Dinner for students on this day, of roast turkey, all the trimmings and a Christmas muffin for £2.75 and pupils can pay on the day.
