Dear Parent/Carer
Welcome back and I hope you managed to have a pleasant half term. The weather continues to be warm, so I recommend all pupils bring a bottle of water with them to school.
We have had to give out a large number of face coverings this week so please remind your child that they need to bring it with them and put it on before entering the school grounds.
Centre Determined Grades and Appeals
Year 11 and 10 students will be emailed their provisional centre determined grades on Friday, June 18 along with information on what to do if they think there has been error. In the first instance, if a student thinks a grade is incorrect, they are to request the Learner Decision Record. This will explain the rationale for awarding the grade. Following receipt of this, if they still think a grade is incorrect they can request a Centre Review. Final GCSE results will be published by WJEC on August 12. It is likely that these will also be emailed direct to students’ Office 365 email accounts.

New Intake Information
We are holding an information evening for parents of Year 6 pupils this Tuesday at 6:00pm. This is a virtual event and you should have received an email with the invitation and link to join the event. Information including which form your child is in will be emailed next week also. There will be a series of activities taking place throughout the remainder of this term to assist with the transition up to High School.
Below is some ongoing information that we have been asked to make parents aware of:
Symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19):
- A high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
- A new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
- A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
Our procedure is that you should go for a PCR test (not an LFT test) and email the negative result or have 10 days isolation before returning to school. If a child is displaying symptoms siblings must stay off isolating too. If you have any of these symptoms, get a test to check if you have coronavirus and stay at home until you get your result.
If your child has had a covid jab (first & second) could you please inform school of the fact and the date they had it so that we can update our records.
Entering LFT results into the Gov portal. Below is an extract from a communication we received from TTP:
Since the start of April, 67% of all positive LFD cases reported through to TTP, are cases that had been incorrectly recorded on the Gov.uk portal. Whilst human error can occur, this can have a knock on effect on school bubbles being isolated, teachers being sent home and households isolating, as a precaution. This could result in pupils missing out on learning or assessments and staff having to pull resources together at the last minute.
The recommendation of Test, Trace, and Protect Schools (TTPS) is to access the portal via a laptop, computer or tablet, as this enables you to see the website in more detail. It is the mobile phone website that is causing the problems.
In the event that a LFT result is recorded incorrectly, then please follow these steps:
1. Take a picture of the LFD test; clearly displaying the test ID
2. Email/call the school letting them know that you have incorrectly entered in
a result
3. Isolate the household until you receive a call from TTPS
4. TTPS will then call you and advise you what happens next
Please note, when accessing the reporting portal, it is vital that the test ID number matches what is on the LFD test itself; if an incorrect test number is added then this could impact the verification procedure.
When it comes to selecting the outcome of the test, please take extra care with reporting the result, as this cannot be changed once submitted.
