Parent Bulletin No.8
Dear Parent/Carer
I hope you and your family are well as we reach the end of our first term. It has been a term not without its challenges, however the pupils should be congratulated on a very positive return after a difficult 18 months. As a school we have put measures in place and worked hard to limit the negative effects of the pandemic, but it will remain a threat as we move into the winter; so please ensure you continue to follow the latest government guidelines.
Y11 Progress Reports
These are available from today via the SIMS Parent App. If you are having trouble viewing it then please contact us at school. Reports for Years 7 – 10 will follow after half term.
Lateral Flow Device Tests (LFDs)
Can I ask that all pupils take an LFD Test on the Sunday before returning to school after the half term break. This is the best way to ensure we do not bring COVID into school. Test kits are available from school reception for pupils as well as in the local collection centres. Welsh Government have changed the guidance for secondary school pupils who have a household member who has tested positive for COVID-19. In addition to PCR tests on day 2 and day 8 they should also undertake lateral flow tests every day for seven days. This should start on the day a household member is confirmed positive from a lateral flow test or PCR test result. The link below will take you to the full statement from the Minister.
New School STEM Project
As part of our new school build our Y10 Engineering and Product Design pupils have been working with pupils from Mynydd Isa and some architects over the last two weeks to design a town. This finished with a presentation yesterday of their design ideas and models. This was a fantastic experience for all involved and has hopefully inspired some of the students to consider a career as an Architect. Well done to all involved.
School reopens on Monday 1 November and I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable week off.
Yours faithfully
Mr P Smith
Headteacher
